Counseling

Anxiety and depression: While we all experience anxiety and depression on some level, there are times when these symptoms feel more intense and get in our way, affecting our relationships with others, the way we feel about ourselves, our energy level, school/work, etc. I work with you to help you understand yourself better and to learn ways to feel more empowered to manage your feelings. In a gentle and safe environment, I incorporate mindfulness-based approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) informed techniques, and EMDR therapy to help you feel more peaceful, joyful, and compassionate towards yourself and others.

Trauma: “Trauma” can come in many forms, including what we commonly think of in terms of abuse, loss or major accidents, and also growing up in a critical environment, having no model of healthy coping skills to learn from, or feelings of loneliness and isolation that we internalize. Sometimes, we’ve experienced trauma without even realizing it. Symptoms of trauma can include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, nightmares, flashbacks, feeling unsafe, etc. I use EMDR therapy to help you resolve your trauma memory in a way that feels safe, allowing you to move on without feeling the intense pain that can come with those memories, and to help you live a more balanced life by removing barriers towards loving yourself and feeling safe within yourself, in relationships, and in the world around you.
